Hongniang — free dating for Chinese singles in Canada
Hongniang (红娘, "matchmaker") is a free dating and matchmaking site built for Chinese families in Canada. It is for adults who want a serious relationship, and for parents who would like to help, without taking the decision away from their children.
Please note: the app itself is currently in Chinese (Simplified). This page explains what it does in English. If you read some Chinese, or have a parent who does, you will find it easy to use.
How it works
- Sign up yourself, or let a parent help write your profile.
- A profile created by a parent stays hidden until you, the adult child, give your consent through a private link sent to you. You can withdraw that consent at any time and the profile goes offline immediately. If you decline, your contact details are deleted right away.
- Browse people in your city: Toronto (including Markham and Richmond Hill), Vancouver (Richmond, Burnaby), Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa, Edmonton and more.
- Chat only starts when both people have said they are interested.
What makes it different
- Completely free. No membership fees and no "pay to see who liked you".
- Safety first. Photo verification, reporting and blocking. Public posts cannot contain phone numbers or WeChat IDs, and common scam phrases (money transfers, crypto, "investment opportunities") are blocked.

Many Chinese parents in Canada worry that their children are too busy to meet someone.
